    Lol.

    The deniers desperation continues.

Here we are making a major once in a century investment in a new technology. Shifting from an old technology ( fossil fuel ) to a new technology ( low emission power ).

Like any transition from the old to the new, there will be upfront costs.

Just like when you buy a new car, build a new house, build a new freeway, trainline, airport etc.

There is a cost upfront however it is an investment in the future. An investment that improves living standards. An investment that will provide returns for the next century.

And , that upfront cost provides efficiencies and savings down the track. Better, cleaner, safer, cheaper.

Renewable energy is cheaper than new coal. Just about all our coal power stations are old and need replacing. Leaving the pollution, aspect aside, it would be more expensive to build new coal anyway.

Of course, if we hadn't been handicapped by denier thinking governments getting in the way, the transition would have been much cheaper and much smoother. But, I digress....

E.g. The Snowy Scheme. Very expensive at the time. A project in very difficult terrain that had hardly been done before anywhere. A project where we had to import a whole workforce. A project that took over 25 years to build.

Turned out to be a pretty good investment, I'd say.........wink.png
