Didn't say that REE would contaminate them, obviously. Why do you think mining explorers put these samples in these fancy boxes and like to test them immediately? If they have been stored for many years there may have been degradation or cross contamination from other samples, or they may have been treated with reagents which may confound the metallurgy test - old cores are OK but they should not be relied upon. Depends on how they were stored. They'll do fresh cores so that will put play to that.
These cores will just help pump the price if they are positive. But what happens if they are not positive ?
