OK, that supports the contention that when you buy a driller and digger, it is NOT an 'investment' per se. Most drillers and diggers wither and dye.

What we are really doing is saying, "yup, I have a certain amount of money that I can gamble with (like the pokies) in the hope of making many, many many bags. But I know the chances approach zero and will be willing to lose it all"!

No, does not sound like an investment to me, but to each his own, I guess.
