Since listing (2007) BLY has been geared at more than 3 times the recommended level for a stock in it's industry type, so management have been very remiss for years in this regard.

Remember this GFC all stems from this high gearing mentality. Directors need to be more responsible as history is littered with stocks whose management have failed to realise the evils of high debt.

Making comparisons with other stocks that have capital is comparing apples with bananas in each instance that you quote.
