An Aurizon coal train from WHC's Maules Creek mine to the Port Waratah Coal Services shiploader at Kooragang Island, Newcastle NSW has derailed at the key rail junction of Maitland NSW, where two tracks in from Branxton and Singleton (used by many coal trains, not just AZJ's) join with the single track line from Brisbane and become four tracks (normally two each way) through Hexham.
Numerous coal trains are stopped.
There is a Pacific National empty steel train from Acacia Ridge, Brisbane stopped behind the coal train from what I can see (I am not there) so this may be blocking the junction.
This may mean a significant delay depending on the severity of the derailment.
