thanks for sharing your thoughts, i love hearing other peoples stories.

growing up, i was one of those kids that would either play cricket for Australia or win a lazy couple of Brownlows playing AFL and for a long time, i didnt have anything to back up on. although i was a handy sportsman it was obvious i wasnt going to make it and when injuries hit me hard during the last couple of years, i found myself looking with things to fill my time with. one day, after getting really into the market through school, the old man offered to match me on my first shares purchase. fair to say i havent looked back since.

i get a great deal of satisfaction from spending modestly and investing the proceeds of my part-time job. because i traditionally havent had too many passions outside of sport, its really filled a hole for me throughout the lockdowns in VIC.

i guess what im tryna say is im really doing commerce out of lack of other options. whilst i love investing etc, your right, i dont know if id be able to do it as a job (and to be honest, i find economics quite boring anyway). hence my plan to do engineering. im very practical, love "doing stuff" and my maths base is pretty strong so i decided this wasnt a bad option. i figured commerce is then handy to have in case i thought about management but id be interested to hear your thoughts on this.

funnily enough, ive always been fascinated by computer science. in fact, i recently bought a coding course and look forward to getting stuck in as soon im through yr 12. similarly to finance though, im a really social and active person and i worry that a career in CS would be a bit too isolating for me. that is unless, i was to get involved with start ups which is why id love to pick up at least a bit of CS.
