When I lived there in once prosperous Libya, the Sudanese were not particularly welcomed. Porous land borders and lucrative market for camels meant they arrived regularly. Of course there was no poverty in Libya (then) and governments like Australia and UN investing in agriculture projects.

Australia ran a sheep production skills transfer project west of Tripoli. DFAT barely acknowledged it's existence. Only way I heard of it was sitting on a flight out of Tripoli next to a young Australian woman who had been visiting her brother.

Refugee programs drain the brains out of countries. South Sudan accepts anyone who was fleeing Sudan, but the people who came as refugees like it here so much better.

i know some hardworking South Sudanese, but the Muslim immigrants to this country tend to have& cause worse problems, as the kids quickly learn Atheism, and reject the rather tenuous bonds that hold families together in Africa. Polygamy is rife, and many women here marry the government, floating the responsibility for provision of an income onto Centrelink and charity.
