Total SOI is always an issue. To think otherwise is frankly naive. I’ll give you an example why. Let’s say company A has 600 million SOI, it’s stock price is 20 cents, so a market cap of $120 million.
Over time the SOI double to 1.2 billion, but during this time company A has some positive announcements and manages to maintain a 20 cent share price despite the dilution. Market cap is now $240 million. Sounds great, however as a shareholder you’ve made nothing in the way of gains despite the MC doubling. Your shares are still only worth 20 cents.
