A sad column in the SMH today reported that an Australian businessman died in New York last November from Covid. His hospitalisation lasted for a few months and cost in excess of $11 million.
Sure, US medical treatment is much more expensive than here but it wouldn't be cheap here either. And several months of care for an ARDS patient is expensive on nursing and doctor resources in any advanced country.
Any government would be negligent not to look seriously at a treatment that has a high rate of saving life, clears hospital beds in weeks, and costs much less than $100,000
