What FAR thought one way or another is irrelevant.
The point is that there were two or possibly three contenders for the farm-in including Shell. That means it is possible even likely that the other 2-3 will be still interested.
Your point about a smaller player has merit, however. what may heva been too small for Shell or too inconclusive might be very interesting for an Apache or even a Tullow or for that matter a Chinese oil company.
