Thanks for the mention, always good to see people like to have a gander at Ivittuut / Gronnedal.

i'll recommend everyone have a look at this drone footage over Gronnedal From what I can tell this is the most comprehensive view of the underpinning infrastructure. note the wharf, buildings, lights, roads even a few towers with what appears to be a mobile tower at 4:17. this is quite a recent video, September 2020

There's also this video which I think has been shared before though been burred under all the other posts. It gives an idea of how the mine was operated. Shows shafts, close up footage of people working in both the pit and buildings. and has an professor talking about it (though not in English)@chaswgb This shows a few more modern images of how they had access to the bottom through ramps and the old red building seems to have a shaft that had an elevator down.

There's this video shows that the wharf is maintained and talks about the role of the Danish Armed forces (this is their official channel). This video shows the navy making the town 'spring ready'. the danish navy frequently visit during all times of the year in their frigates, There's also a flurry of cruise ships that visit (of course that demand has decreased due to covid).


Would like to see how the 2 mines (carbonate at Gronnedal-Ika and Ivittuut) EPM can add another industry here, it seems like theres a good amount of infrastructure pre existing. More will need to be build when the mines operate but during their exploration and early start up phase it seems they don't need to focus on anything apart from the actual mining. which is one less thing to worry (and fund) about.
