Personally , and I know this wont be the general consenus but Im happy they rubbed Buddy out for two weeks .
The argument of big man small man just does not wash , and the rather arrogant action towards Cousins after he made contact , there a lot to dislike on a number of other fronts , that probably shouldn't be mentioned here .
Forgetting all that , the guy can play ..Little doubt about that , but its in the interests of game to clean up these actions , including any head high action .
I was never a great footballer , but my career was cut short by many elements of the game at that time , Like the " shirt front " and over zealous physicality , thats what happened 20 something years ago , if a quick small guy was cutting you up , you took him out .. It them all worked on retribution , completely ridiculous really .
Pictures on the front of " The Sun " newspaper of Bob Skilton with two back eyes , VFL players carrying injuries in their 60s with no money to fix . Being fair game to " fix " a player who was beating you at the actual game , is akin to smacking Tiger Woods with your driver because you cant beat him at golf !
So happy they are cleaning it up , Its still plenty physical enough and you have to a sensational athlete to play today , guys like Trevor Barker , Robert Flower were ahead of their time and would be awesome players today , so would Dermott , he would have been able to focus on playing and he had wonderful football skills .
Well done to the AFL , and the tribunal a good fair decision .
