We are great at sterilizing actions and put a new paint to it. Take lobbying. Is that just legalized corruption? As you have indicated, our Westminster system of voter representation ensure that a PM is not necessary what voter wants but usually back room deals within a party factions etc. look at the revolving doors PM and each new one freshly installed claims to not go through the cliff pushing again.
Capitol Hill invasion apparently is misdemeanor and I don’t hear wholesale criminal investigations on the perpetrators nor instigator. Rule of law or just speaking in legal tongue twisters?
The consistent threat of military and/or covet activity committed by the bastion of democracy and free world US does challenge the term oxymoron. Establishing democracy from the barrel of a gun. If it had worked, I would have applauded this initiatives. Geoffrey Sach has already itemized consistency of nations which US meddled, invaded or promoted conflicts with a big failure rate. And the one that takes the biscuit is Afghanistan.
They encouraged and funded Jihadist to rebel against the left wing govt which triggered Russian invasion on their back door neighbour. That promoted the fund raising and military hardware by CIA before they got worried should the stinger hand held anti war plane missiles fall into the wrong hands after Russians left. We followed the war on terror straight into Kabul, got rid of the Taliban, installed a civil govt, heavily funded their military but only folks in the major cities benefitted some wealth run offs while the country peasants were still as poor living subsistence hand to mouth. And we pride ourselves unlocking women rights and careers while spending more time arming their army to fight the religious rebels. Somewhere in that confusion winning hearts and minds was just a concept because Wikileaks uncovered the real heart and mind operations of which even our military leaders are now contemplating war crimes!
The irony is that US left the Taliban with the most up to date weaponry and more black hawks that her allies! And to add insult to injury, they made Taliban ideology somewhat moderate to the threat of ISIS-K who had the potential given their success in Syria.
