Definition is basically determined by usage and marketing has probably "changed" the definition of some words over time and even invented new ones "lite" meaning low fat being a classic example.
Most Australians don't know the difference between the usage of your and you're (you are).
The dictionary will eventually give up and say "your" can mean both.
Language is for communication, nothing more.
I was taught the difference by a Korean girlfriend when I was 33.
Her English teacher had corrected something on a passage she had wrote and she asked me "isn't this correct?".
The teacher was wrong.
I circled the mistake and wrote..
"Your a teacher??"
And she said "Actually that's wrong too!"..
