Your stats probably included the Alpha cases, not solely Delta. The Delta cases are particularly skewed to the younger group.
Almost all of Victoria’s cases are under 50
Hannah Wootton
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has confirmed the state’s 183 new local COVID-19 cases, which came from almost 50,000 tests and takes its active cases to 1417.
Of those 183 new cases, 101 are linked to known cases and outbreaks.
They are also overwhelmingly young: 91 per cent of the 183 are under 50. Of the active cases in the state, 216 are 0-9 years old, 232 are 10-19, 348 are 20-29 and 245 are in their 40s.
“The age breakdown confirms that this is a pandemic of the unvaccinated,” Andrews says.
The brunt of cases are in the northern suburbs.
There were 29,950 vaccinations given in Victoria yesterday.
There are 89 Victorians in hospital, 24 in intensive care and 13 on ventilators. Only one person in hospital was double vaccinated.
