how did i receive mm1 shares?

    Hi all,
    i received holding statement showing.i have been alloced a certain quantity of midas Mineral shares. i am curious as to how it happened? i don't recall applying for them. are these offshoot of some other company which i might item shares of?
    sounds silly but i am just baffled.
    any help appreciated.
