Here are a few comments in relation to the usage of 200 EMA.
Should it be always applied? I can definitely say it may not be relevant for some stocks such as FMG.
What is the reason?
Strictly speaking mathematically, the EMA is a very monotonic function. However as we know the IOP prices can move dramatically. For example the recent IOP move was from over $220 (middle July) to $130 within a few weeks. Obviously the SP has followed this move but not at the same degree. As a result the FMG chart has crossed the 200 EMA.
Is it important? Probably not very much in the aspect of comparison with the 200 EMA.
