The officers asked the man to move off the road, but police allege he became physically aggressive toward them.

“That man has then approached the female officers, kicked one to the chest and then began punching her,” Detective Superintendent Todd Cunningham told reporters on Monday.

“The second officer then got involved and assisted her partner and that offender then turned on her and began to knee and punch that officer.”

The officers used OC spray in an attempt to subdue the alleged offender before he fled the area and boarded a train.

A 43-year-old man was arrested at a Yagoona home on Monday afternoon and taken to Bankstown Police Station, where he allegedly assaulted a third officer, a 32-year-old male senior constable, while in custody.
