@sincos I was merely comparing the business continuity of those organisations. They are of course different in nature. My point was merely that businesses that operate over longer periods of time particularly through a period of technological evolution have a more sustainable business model.

You're correct about the debt levels of civil servants. There was a research paper published in The Journal of Emerging Economies and Islamic Research which looked at predicting the debt levels of civil servants in Malaysia. The research paper indicated two key findings.

The first was that there was a general economic sustainability risk which these debt levels posed. Much the way I would expect debt levels of most countries as inflation begins to rise. Hence the 10 year high of loan impairments in Malaysia. The Bank of Negara has cited these risks and has noted that they are of low concern as they have seen this situation in the past and have the resources and the capacity to deal with it.

The second key finding that was identified in the research paper was the socio-economic risks. That is to say that civil servants have over time developed a behavior of taking on debt. In fact according to the paper approximately 50% of monthly income went to debt repayments. That leaves only 50% of monthly income left for living expenses. Isn't that interesting? It sounds like civil servants could definitely use some kind of cashflow tool that could help spread out payments over a few weeks... Well isn't that the perfect customer for IOU? Civil servants may even find it quite difficult to pay their utility bills if inflation continues to increase. It's probably a good thing that IOUpay can be used to pay utility bills then, isn't it?

I hope you're seeing where this is headed because it's quite a brilliant strategic move and perfectly justifies the $43m investment. Don't you think?
