Definitely "do realise" that this has been the case in the past yes, but has quickly changed of late and will continue increase its status as next exporter to with few restraints being put on renewables (synchronous condenser installs, NSW/SA transmission link etc). See below the latest few years where you can see SA is a net exporter.
I'm simply demonstrating that as coal power stations, or any sizeable synchronous generators, switch off (Alinta NPS for example) you can run a grid without them. It was done for 17 days (not for "a few hours or a day"), with lots of challenges, distorted market etc, but it was verified at quite a scale.
I won't respond to the other posts which seem to be talking about what's happening now (or denying climate science consensus), and not where the roadmaps are taking us.
It's not a matter of what I 'want', I'm simply observing the trends.
