I just think it was blatant insider trading. Someone had the news and bought it up then dumped for quick gain.
Maybe they weren't the seller but they definitely had the news ahead of time.
We never saw a spike like this before average drill results - suddenly a new basin opened up and up up up.. albeit temporarily.
