What they say about you only lock in losses when you sell also applies to you dont lock in your gains unless you sell and lock them in as well. Over the long run its not about picking the absolute lows to get in but more about time in stocks that are well managed and continue to grow like FMG.

I read a interesting article about one of Warren Buffers sons. 30 years ago his son inherited some money from his grandfather. His father Warren got him to invest in no surprise, Berkshire Hathaway shares. He sold out of all of them at $130k to pursue his fledgling music career. Fast forward 30 years he is happy with his life and moderately successful in the music field which was his passion. His $130k holding he sold out 30 years ago has grown to $275M .

Life is not all about money and he now happily makes a good living from his passion in life. Maybe he would of had a better work life balance if he only sold half of his BH shares back then and borrowed the rest to pursue his dreams.
