This is how men's responses occur, after strutting about and displaying their egos with a verbal comment, eg
Lots of girls/women actually liked me/were coming on to me but I was very shy (repeat that 200 times)
Woman responds, hoping to express her displeasure at that repeated boast.
His response. Oh, that was a joke......
Woman knows it was not. Otherwise, would not have seen it repeated here many times over. She also knows he wants to shift the accusation across to the woman. (Evidently, she doesn't "get" his joke.) Yeh. Right. Blame the woman - ALWAYS.
Conclusion. Men are never wrong and make some pretty silly comments in a woman's company.
