Be careful with the R value as it is a sort of median figure, one person could spread it to 40 people in an hour and 40 other (infected) people may not spread it at all
Lock-downs have been condemned by experts the world over as being ineffective.
IMHO they are like masks, part of a combined package that can be used and I think that like masks they have been used ineffectively because by themselves they tend to disadvantage far too many people for the benefit they bring
eg, if you check the infectious diseases legislation they talk about "Isolation" of people. Basically there has been none, so why have lock down without isolation
Maybe if they permitted the use of the Rapid antigen tests they could quickly pick specific houses to quarantine rather than close down the State
And more emphasis on actual sick people rather than those who show they have a very small infection, the current test is far to sensitive
