From what I've read and understand major 'Crashes' have occurred throughout history at various stages of economic cycles and with different background conditions and circumstances. The most notable consistent, recurring themes and common denominators I can find seem to be debt levels, gearing, leverage and speculative activity, all of which currently seem to me to be at unsustainable and elevated levels ?
