Reaper, your post is absolutely perfect. It certainly does reflect many peoples attitude and explains why the love affair with Rudd continues.
What astounds me is the inability of people to actually see past the rhetoric and spin and assess the situation for what it truly is. As you point out Reaper, our amazing country has avoided a technical recession whilst "most of the developed world's economies have been shrinking by between 5 & 6% per annum", yet as Dave and Eagle continually point out, we have spent far less in terms of GDP on our stimulus. Our stimulus has not created 100's of thousands of jobs like many other countries. A lick of paint, a shade clothe, a hall and a pink bat do not compete on the world stage as far as stimulus initiative goes, yet we are doing better than most of the world. Surely it is at this point that any reasonable person interested in the scary GFC would now ask why?
Lets add it up shall we. 1) Not going into recession like most developed countries. 2) Lesser % GDP spent on stimulus. 3) Stimulus not nearly as well targeted.
Hmmm, if anything we should be worse off than the other countries, what on earth could be the difference that Laborites can't fathom. OMG, it has just come to me, the state of the country leading into the GFC. The country Peter Costello handed to Rudd on a silver platter.
Amazing, some are so much head over heals in love with Rudd and (snicker) Swan, that they compare them to the likes of "Roger Federer, Usain Bolt, Tiger Woods, Don Bradman, Edward de Bono, Albert Einstein and John Cleese". I am sure the great Don would be spinning in his grave. No wonder the polls show Rudd so far in front (inept opposition also contributes markedly), when so many NEED to believe in Rudd, almost like a religious cult, they can't see what is right before their eyes.
