    Hi parsi,

I was just sitting out on the verandah for a while yesterday afternoon. Enjoying the peace and tranquility, the different birds and the lovely scenery. We have been so very privileged to be able to enjoy 22 years here.

When we bought the farm, it had an old donga on it and one scrubby eucalyptus in the garden.
We soon discovered that the donga was infested with white ants. We were naive when we bought this place, fresh off the boat almost. We dealt with a very ruthless real estate agent, who said you do not need a white ant test as the building is metal.
But it had an extension on it, which is where later we discovered the termites got in.

So it had to go and we took the plunge and had the house built. The granite was all from the farm, as was the sand for the pad and we also have a gravel pit, so it was nice to feel all self sufficient.

We had a great deal of energy when we first moved here. But as you say, it has now become a great deal of hard work.
You are very lucky to have a designated room in your old place, how lovely.

Our suburban house will feel like home again, given time.
Our neighbours on one side are really lovely and friendly and we look forward to going out for meals with them, and he is a golfer.

So yes, of course there are advantages. Perhaps I will once again become a social butterfly as I once was lol.
Contentment and peace of mind is what we should all aim for

    Jo Jo xx
