Shrodinger set up this thought experiment to show how absurd is to have a cat alive and dead at the same time.
Experiments have since been devised to show the rate of radioactive decay can be influenced, -the Zeno effect- but the cat being part of the macro world cannot exist in two states at the same time in the same manner as quantum particles.
