My Scottish lady friend is not feisty, and stood quietly and obediently beside her German man. Or a little behind the man. He took her shopping. She carried the bag and maneuvered her twins in their double pushers, unaided.

If he was annoyed by anything she did, he would give the children a bad time as she knew that hurt her more than it would have had she copped the consequences. My friend was a lady with a high IQ. She was able to see exactly what he was doing. Many years later, having broken up with him, she watched her feisty daughter who wanted her own way in everything. Her husband simply coped very well. He changed baby nappies and cooked meals, no proble. First time my friend wondered if she had stood up to her man rather than slavishly trying to conform and thinking she was never good enough, would he have crawled back in his shell and behaved differently. He had certainly not wanted her to leave.

Her daughter is happy and her bloke simply dances to her instructions. My friend gobsmacked as to how her daughter gets away with it, but daughter stood up to her dad when she was at home. Her mum knew it was wrong but secretly admired her courage. Did daughter have enough German in her to enable her to deal with her dad effectively?

Who knows. Father soon met another woman but confessed my friend was the only woman he had ever loved. He died from cancer several years ago but my friend is still going strong and happy.
