The Prime Minister is seen by most Australians as the most important political person in Australia. The Prime Minister works according to conventions and procedures that have evolved over hundreds of years in Britain and Australia. These unwritten rules are not defined in the Constitution which only mentions in Section 64 how ministers are appointed. The Constitution does not refer specifically to the Prime Minister.
