They're trying to be less reliant on real estate construction and the speculation that goes with it, that's why it's going to lead to a permanent change in Chinese steel demand. It's CCP policy to try and redirect Chinese investment to the share market. The real question is whether Beijing replaces that steel demand with infrastructure spending that uses steel.
