Been watching PMM development fairly closely and the only direct investment by an auto OEM, distinct Tier 1 auto supplier, was just a few months ago, and a relatively small one at this point:

With battery packs clearly the biggest economic variable each of the major OEM's want/needs to maintain some control of their destiny, particularly ex China, whereas NdFeB/PMM are not getting anything like the same attention.
With virtually 100% of high grade mags for BEV traction motors manufactured inside China appears the "EV Revolution" RE/NdFeB is very China centric ATM.
