I have posted this on another thread, but it seems that the term sophisticated investor is not understood by many here.
The sophisticated investor is a mere mortal like myself and it is used for legal reasons, and common with spec stocks.
a sophisticated investor is one who has done the research and understands the risk of the investment they are undertaking. It's used so investor that undertake a raising as a sophisticated investor can't claim they did not know the risks. It's got nothing to do with status or type of person involved. it does not protect a company blatantly lying however
looking at some comments on hot copper it's better if some remain unsophisticated investors!
