My interpretation of that quote is Barry talking about Australian miners trying to heap leech and why they failed or find it difficult. That argument doesn't hold any merit when you are talking about 30% of copper miners around the world who are successfully heap leeching most of them for decades. I would presume over the years those miners would have their process optimised and refined and would have their own R&D into how to speed up the curve.
