Because it’s makes it a little harder for keyboard traders that will trade this 3-4 times a day, it only has to move .1 of a cent for a 3.3% move a 10 to 1 consolidation will require a full cent or 2c if it’s double that. It makes no difference to long term holders and all the difference to the guys messing with it. As someone else already explained it does attract a different group of investors.
Best to rip the bandaid off, ICG did it and haven’t looked back.
