That would be really stupid Dex.
Nobody is saying get rid of renewables (well, at least I’m not).
What I am saying is we need to be very, very careful about our pace of transitioning, and what we transition to.
For a country the size of Australia, going full tilt with wind and solar is a recipe for financial disaster (huge transmission and storage costs from many dispersed renewable wind and solar farms). We need to have a blend of ‘old’ (but current versions of) and new technologies. HELE coal, modular nuclear (with the submarines, we’ll have the people to operate the nukes), gas, solar hydro and wind.
