New poster here... I've watched GGG for a while now. I have the benefit of actually traveling to Greenland once a year for the past 10 years (geological tours). I spend all my time in the Ilimaussaq area (Kvanefjeld) where the GGG exploration is taking place. I have seen their operation grow from initial samplings to what it is today. No doubt they've been doing some serious work up there, and there are certainly some major uranium deposits (my geiger counter tells me so every place I go).
But - I have some recent news (of which I have no idea of the importance). GGG has torn down *all* of their facilities atop Kvanefjeld. They had a major base camp up there, and it's now all gone. I found that kind of mysterious, but maybe it's just the next step in moving from exploration to feasibilty studies??? The Narsaq local population is generally receptive to mining in the area - very high unemployment in the village. It's just the "tree-huggers" making all the noise about mining and the environment; I get the feeling that the general populace want to see mining start. But - according to the locals the decision has been made - there will be no uranium mining in the area. My Innuit partner was shocked when I told him that GGG's stock was climbing, and they seemed to really expect to be given permission to mine uranium.
In general, Greenland is going thru some serious changes regarding their natural resources. It's creating problems for small operations such as I have with my partner in Narsaq, as well as the ruby miners up north in Nuuk. They're making up policy as they go - and it will be interesting to see where it ends up.
The Kvanefjeld area is certainly ripe for development, rich with minerals, and would be nothing but good for the local economy. But one impression I get is that the Danes feel it is their geological backyard and don't want anyone messing it up. Perhaps as they have less input into the country's operations things will loosen up.
Just adding my 2c, wondering if this is a buy???
