baz just a few quick replays,
due to privacy and information disclosure laws I cant say more than what I have already said, but I assure you from personal experience consulting and working with tls technical ppl I have had lots of insight into the their work culture and priorities.
Technology wise, Australia was never going to be an easy one to implement and there is no single answer however a mesh of technologies can be used to tackle the challenges for example why should someone who lives in the city have to pay the same price of someone that lives in the middle of nowhere or and need the same speed and services? Now I’m sure people who CHOSE to move so far do acknowledge and enjoy the features and life style offered in the countryside and get some things cheaper anyways so they may have to fork out a little extra for other things.. “If I had it my way that is”
With current technology wireless is not a secure method of communication, all the security added to it is added to higher levels when the main core problems are in level one which is access to the physical media “the microwaves” and another reason why it should never be widely used is the fact that we have enough noise around us on the planet with all the mobiles and other things in the house these days.. Having large wifi transmitters all over the place could result in some serious health issues “not proven but common since if u look into the buildup of the waives 802.11 is the frequency of microwaves just with lots less amplitude or power”.
Of course technology is ever evolving, but one thing is for sure. We will need faster internet as we move forward. Lots of computers will become hand held and replace smart phones.. TVs and fridges will be all connected online and streaming information from the net “making orders, paying bills, streaming movies or watching sports n news or even web caming with family..” the media used on the internet is getting larger and larger “youtube” and if we are ever going to make a move onto holograms one day and 3rd data will need lots more bandwidth than the old phone lines “pstn copper wires”. Fiber optic can hold a lot more than we have used so far the bottle neck is actually the speed encoding, and decoding of signals not the transport of them down the lines.. it is far more reliable but also more sensitive however its underground not in the air so weather doesn’t effect it…
my main point here is not technical it’s just to how that the need for a faster network was always there but Australia just took too long and hopefully this will get us started in the right direction. After looking at today’s announcement I bought 150 000 tls although I don’t like them I know that it’ll take a long time for the split and hope maybe they get it right and start moving forward. And of course I bought some WRR as well.
The main reason why they didn’t want too was the fact that they were making lots of money without having too. They would have lost some market share if they were to lay shared fiber lines with their competitors.
