    Kbee I think we are missing each others points;

    1. I do not believe that Australia can be easily compared to Europe and Japan because of geographical and population density reasons.
    2. I do not believe that anyone can safely predict future technology especially in telecommunications.
    3. I know that 3d pictures, fridges that automatically place restock orders and paying bills is good stuff but I don’t want a huge national debt to pay for it.
    4. Government’s build motorways when traffic congestion forces them to. Private industry builds infrastructure when they think they can make a quid.
    5. If Telstra’s competition thought they could make a quid building a private NBN they would build it.
    6. No one invests vast sums of money to create something that a regulator will make them hand over to their competition without knowing if the competition will be required to pay a fair price (regulatory certainty).
    7. I don’t want to save $30 a week on my telephone bills and pay an additional $60 a week in taxes. Although I admit that this type of Mickey-mouse economics appears to appeal to some.
