I'm doing a PhD in Anthropology, although really, I'm an interdisciplinary social scientist who uses methods form evolutionary anthropology, biological anthropology, and evolutionary psychology.

I'm researching and theorising about the evolution of romantic love. The title of my thesis is called "Evolutionary and biocultural perspectives on romantic love."

Romantic love doesn't leave a direct fossil record, so one of the main ways we learn about the evolution of romantic love is by making inferences from modern data about romantic love and romantic relationships.

I'm conducting a survey early next year of young adults in a romantic relationship and it will cost more than my PhD fund has.

I'm doing it because I really enjoy it and am passionate about the subject. I aspire to making $3 million dollars on the stocks market so I can retire to the south of France and do the sort of research that interests me as a visiting fellow at a university somewhere. If I only make $1 million, I will do the same but stay in Canberra. I've got about three years to do that. I think I have a chance.
