Fantastic interview, thanks for sharing it. Top marks to the interviewer for actually having done his homework (though he stuffed up re the pilot plant) and actually asking pertinent questions. So much better than some bored looking dude just reading out a set of questions the company prepared for him. Julian Welsh again did very well, apart from not pointing out that Lepidico is an Australian company.
A couple of things: I thought he chose the difficult road at the start by trying to sell Lepidico as a chemicals company with a focus on licensing. Much easier these days to lead with Lepidico selling LiOH along with some by-products. And not sure why he felt he had to repeat that Karibib is just a "tiny" site consisting of an excavator and a few trucks when in fact the company is saying they will have one hundred employees at Karibib (it aint Greenbushes but it is phase one).
Of more concern to me is what Julian said towards the end of the session: I'm hoping he muddled his timeline. I suspect he mixed up talking about calendar year with fiscal year. He said how they hope to commence construction in the middle of Q1 "next year", with first mining at Karibib in Q4 2022, commissioning of the concentrator at Karibib for Q4C 2022 or Q1 2023, then they would have to allow time to be able to have material to transport to UAE so commissioning of the processing plant would be Q3 "next year" and commissioning at UAE in either Q4 2022 or Q1 2023.
The only that timeline works with the recently announced production figures (CY23 production being only just less than CY24 production) is if it goes like this: commence construction in the middle of Q1CY22, with first mining at Karibib in Q2CY22, commissioning of the concentrator at Karibib for Q2CY22 or Q3CY22, then they would have to allow time to be able to have material to transport to UAE so commissioning of the processing plant would be Q3CY22 and commissioning at UAE in either Q4CY22 or Q1CY23. Seeing how clear he had been in the interview right up until then it surprises me that he would muddle the timeline so badly.
