you remember all those movies where the evil scientist threatens the whole world with the death beam (or whatever it's called)?
well it's true, but most don't see it because, they are occupied with activities of survial, fear, and greed.

also the death beam is not showen on the media with accompaning threats (subconsciouly what we would be looking for, because we have been programmed that way)
we also tend to associate such a device with science FICTION.

i think that you are right regarding things turning to custard, but focusing on what the powers that be (TPTB) want you to focus (global warming, bird flu, pandemic terrorists etc) (btw the mainstream media is mostly a tool for programming for the masses) on is playing straight into their hands.
