Definitely a lot of commentary in the general media about energy policy, including hydrogen. Politics cannot be removed from the debates as the players have their eyes on their constituencies (and future elections). It's true the changes to the energy mix needs to be carefully considered to allow for real time impacts on industry competitiveness and jobs. Such a delicate balancing act, to get it right so that individuals, families, communities and industries don't suffer as a consequence. I am quite inspired by some of the ideas swirling around at the moment, especially how development of some of the renewable technologies can play a transformative role in the Australian economy, such as value adding (eg green steel, etc). My view is that the renewable solutions are probably never be "one size fits all". There will be good solutions that work well in some areas, but not necessarily others. I think an open mind needs to be kept on nuclear options, especially the smaller, safer reactors. Extension of energy grids with connected renewables and "harmonising" battery storage is also in the mix. I don't think hydrogen is the silver bullet but do believe the Hazer technology is a potentially brilliant niche technology that will be ideal (subject to the economics) in some industries and some locations (regionally and internationally). Have held Hazer since 2016 and very excited for what is to come in coming months and years.
