hera - sorry to hear of your losses. i noticed its been a while since you visited our thread. and what you said is exactly true, and proves the worth of DYOR.
DYOR, and despite what is going on elsewhere, if you have enough information and confidence about the company, events like the GFC become less important, and simply where theyll be when YOU are ready to sell is all that matters.

IATO - exited - interesting. i know several who have this fear of impending global doom again, and while i understand, i also dont necessarily agree, or feel another round of selling will be of the level seen before. either way fear of missing out on the great push up on brilliant news ensures i wont be exiting any time soon.
good luck with your strategy, but i hope you are grossly wrong.
