Linius -Law enforcement and facial recognition.
There has been a lot of kick back controversy of providing facial recognition to Law enforcement from software developers.
Many posters have said that Linius doesn't do facial recognition that it's a third party add on and I agree and it seems to me that Linius has concentrated on a shape ,colours and overall recognition and backtracks.
It appears to me that Linius is a tool to track in reverse as to create a timeline as to what occurred before the event and perhaps gather forensic evidence in a case.
Now that Linius appears to have enabled their meta tagging at no cost then it will become more widely used as only the user downloads appear to be charged with subscription fees and data packs charged where advertising is not available to cover costs eg Universities and Zoom.
At present in WA a missing girl and all available CCTV will be viewed. Sure it can and will be done manually, but having the use of Linius to meta tag whatever in those captured videos would greatly assist in the first instance in a resolution in a life and death situation (police have asked for all CCTV from travellers or cameras or whoever to be submitted)
In conclusion I feel that Linius will be used, just not as first envisaged which is how it is playing out in other areas.
I believe that it comes down to Linius's new revenue models.
At first we were told that billions of people would subscribe to billions of subscriptions and yet make Linius the google of video.
That was never going to work even though I initially believed.
Now it's meta tag everything for free and sell data packs for user pays for use time with advertising revenue or with subscription
Now video is like google because Linius turns video into data and then reassembles per user requirements.
