@diligent - I sometimes visit a friend in a retirement village and she has her own house and can cook, if she wants to but rarely does more than tea or coffee in her house.
how do you like living there? are you local as in W.A.?
I have always said, "I'd rather rent a room in a pub, than live in a retirement village" - but may change my mind - eventually - not a concern yet.
