At $40 to acquire each customer, those same customers need to pay a subscription cost for 8 months (at $4.99/month) for DOU to break even.

Is the product good enough to retain each paid customer for 8 months? I have no idea, it's unavailable in Aus.

Last financial year - prior to the paid subscriptions being introduced - DOU received approximately $1 revenue per user. Add that to above and it makes barely any difference.

This customer acquisition strategy is a gamble - only when subscription numbers are released (including MAU and retention rate) will there be sufficient information to assess business growth (or lack of).
