I own a PHEV. VW mention similar no. of PHEVs to EVs being sold. Europe in Jan and Feb had PHEVs outselling EVs. I'm a fan of PHEVs for Australia. You get the bliss of EV for the great majority of driving (best way to tear around the suburbs, at 2 cents /km vs 14 cents for petrol) and you don't have range anxiety. Plus they are cheaper to buy than full EVs. Sure, you have service costs, but they are capped nowadays. Mine has 10yr warranty if sticking to fixed Mitsubishi schedule, which isn't steep at all. You watch, European and Japanese manufacturers will be pumping out more and more PHEVs cause they will be an easy sell. And don't forget people, the most in demand mainstream car in the world right now is the Toyota RAV4 Prime. You pay >$5K USD more than RRP in USA to get one. 82km EV range, 900km total range, 0 to 100km/hr in 5.8 seconds. And AWD that handles like a charm. And Mazda is bringing a new line up of PHEV optioned vehicles to Oz next year. I'm astounded that there's not more PHEV's on road in Australia. And mine has paddles on steering wheel to adjust the regenerative braking, unlike Tesla, and I use them all the time. I wouldn't get a Tesla for that reason alone. I'm telling you all, we can decarbonize our vehicular transport virtually for no total life cycle cost. And get EV bliss in the process!!!! BTW, I'm a long time ORE holder. Wish I still had the 30,000 I once held.
