Yep definitely is entrenched in the forum system and even sometimes not just on our forums, possibly a team of people not posting but creating a situation, watching the effect it has on forums etc.
You're right also on hotcopper clamping down on this in a big way...pretty damn quickly too.
One should always keep their wits about them and not get the fever.
So many mine fields to watch out for and sophisticated stings to pry money from the unsuspecting to those playing games.
I personally think in a big way the whole hotcopper system of love hearts, stars, most frequent poster of all time, most frequent in 30 days...the whole lot should be scrapped.
I've noticed some abusing this system and using it to their advantage.
Then hotcopper is also a private entity, a business, so we cannot expect it to be the most pure system out there....its difficult with many abusing it continually...overall....I cant see a better source of info sharing out there....hotcopper, HC Admin and the mods tirelessly do a hard job and remain on top of it.
So posts like this are excellent to keep people reminded of the forces out there trying to get your hard earned bucks.
