So I just looked up Parliamentary privilege:
Parliamentary privilege is a legal immunity enjoyed by members of certain legislatures, in which legislators are granted protection against making baseless guarantees or flippant remarks.
Parliamentary privilege ensures that members are not held accountable for showboating, virtue signalling or making false claims which can have far-reaching consquences.
